Wall Street Institute Achieves Significant Milestone With the Opening of a Center in Madrid

The grand opening of Wall Street Center Madrid 1 in the prestigious Argüelles district took place on April 23rd, marking WSI’s re-entry into the Spain marketplace. The opening is a significant milestone in a country where WSI once operated over 130 centers.

WSI spent nearly a year planning for the re-entry into Spain, which included an extensive search for the perfect location. We also conducted market research and worked with local agencies to develop marketing tactics and to craft the most compelling marketing messages for this market.

The location is ideal to attract walk-in traffic due to its proximity to the main Princesa & Argüelles shopping districts and the main university campus areas around the Argüelles neighborhood. The center occupies 320m2 , and is located on the ground floor with a 9 metre shop-front on Alberto Aguilera and a 24 metre façade on the back end on Conde Valle de Suchil Square.

The location has great exposure to both car and foot traffic on the front side, but with calm and tranquility on the back side, where the Encounter Rooms and Social Club are located. There are 40 work stations in the Speaking Center and four Encounter Rooms. There is a total capacity for around 900 students. It is anticipated that this market will have a very high English Anytime user patterns as Madrid has a very high level of internet usage among consumers.

The center occupies 320m2 of space and has great exposure to both car and foot traffic.

The initial marketing activities included:

• Billboards on the main metro stations around Alberto Aguilera 10.
• Full page advertisements in the “M” Madrid social scene magazine and in the “Gaceta Universitaria” magazine, which is distributed throughout the main state and private university colleges which are heavily concentrated around the Argüelles neighborhood.
• Direct mailing using an “English Survival Kit” theme
• Web marketing using cost-per-lead mechanisms and search engine optimization

WSI Spain will be run by the corporate office located in Portugal. Darren Swan, General Manager, Iberia, will oversee all operations in Portugal and Spain.
